Banned Sikhs For Justice claims ‘Russian agency’ is behind disinformation campaign in Canada

Banned organization Sikhs For Justice has made a sensational claim about a Russian agency’s involvement in a “disinformation” campaign about the “peaceful gathering” of pro-Khalistan Sikhs in Canada. However, the organization did not name the Russian agency against which it made the accusation.

The controversy gained traction after the Brampton Triveni Mandir and Community Centre, which was set to host a Life Certificate event on November 17, announced the cancellation of the event.

The decision followed intelligence reports from Peel Regional Police warning of an “extremely high and imminent threat level of violent protests”. The event was organized by the Indian Consulate.

In an official statement released on Monday, the Brampton Triveni Mandir said: “Please be advised that the Life Certificate Event scheduled at Brampton Triveni Mandir by the Indian Consulate on November 17, 2024 has been cancelled. This is due to official intelligence van Peel The regional police state that there is an extremely high and imminent threat level of violent protests.”

Safety problems lead to police alarm

The statement highlighted that the cancellation followed advice from Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah, aimed at ensuring the safety of those in attendance.
“On the advice of Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah, we must make the right decision to cancel to ensure the safety of Brampton Triveni Mandir devotees, community visitors and the general public. We apologize to all community members who relied on the event.” read the statement.

SFJ’s threats against Indian diplomats

The cancellation of the event comes amid threats from SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who announced new dates for attacks on temples in Canada and threatened Indian diplomats.

Stating that SFJ would attack Indian diplomats in Hindu temples on November 16 and 17, Pannun stated: “We will shake the foundations of Ayodhya… the Canadian Prime Minister, RCMP, has acknowledged that Indian diplomats are spying on Canadian Sikhs and are responsible for the murder . by Shaheed Nijjar… NEXT challenge for Indian terrorist diplomats will be: November 16 in Kalibari Mandir, Mississauga and November 17, Triveni Mandir, Brampton (sic).”

The Brampton Triveni Mandir expressed regret over the disruption caused to the community, highlighting the growing sense of unease among Canadian Hindus. “We are deeply saddened that Canadians now feel unsafe coming to Hindu temples in Canada,” the statement said.

In addition to the apology, the Mandir called on authorities for immediate intervention and security guarantees. “We call on Peel Police to address the threats being spread against Brampton Triveni Mandir and provide safety guarantees to the Canadian Hindu community and the general public,” it urged.
