Georgia man arrested for $1.3 million counterfeit ticket fraud

A Georgia man has been charged in connection with a ticket scam at the University of Georgia, authorities said.

Jones County agents in central Georgia say Matthew Timothy Neet advertised non-existent tickets online, defrauding victims across the state.

After investigation, officers discovered that this incident was part of a wider plan. Officials say Neet’s alleged scam duped more than 30 victims statewide, resulting in a total loss of an estimated $1.3 million.

Neet was arrested last week in Louisiana and subsequently extradited to the Jones County Jail. He is currently being held without bond.
