Tinubu urged Wike to stop demolition of houses in FCT – Nigeria – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

In a strongly worded appeal, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said: Timi Frankhas called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing demolitions in Abuja, which he says are disproportionately impacting poor and vulnerable residents. Frank’s statement, issued on Tuesday from Abuja, accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wikeof exceeding his authority and ‘causing unnecessary hardship’ to the residents.

Frank claims that Wike’s actions, which he describes as ill-timed and unjust, have tainted Tinubu’s government. He argued that the minister’s rapid land withdrawals have left many residents homeless, which reflects damagingly on the government.

According to Frank, Wike’s demolition work serves as a “new settlement tool”, where land would be taken from vulnerable residents and redistributed within Wike’s network.

He added: “Mr President, one of the reasons why you are called ‘T-Pain’ is due to Minister Wike’s alleged insensitivity and intimidation of FCT residents, leaving some homeless due to his alleged greed. It is alleged that the revoked land is being quickly reallocated to its associates inside and outside the government, while those involved are being told to face lengthy legal proceedings.”

Frank also suggested that Wike’s actions have extended to members of the judiciary, claiming land allocations to ensure decisions would be in favor of his agenda.

As ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) to East Africa and the Middle East, Frank has urged Tinubu to take swift action to protect the reputation of the presidency.

He warned that if Tinubu does not intervene, the president’s legacy could be overshadowed by Wike’s approach.

“The FCT is not Rivers State,” Frank emphasized. “If you do not take immediate action against Wike, the image of the government will ultimately suffer.”

Frank also alleged that Wike is focusing on selling land in the FCT instead of much-needed improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education and renewable energy. He has promised to expose Wike’s alleged allies “at the right time” if these practices continue.

In a direct plea to Tinubu, Frank urged the President to stand up for the people of the FCT and remove Wike from office. He concluded, “Don’t listen to his foolishness. Fire him and you’ll see how irrelevant he is.’
