The San Francisco Giants are expected to be among the most aggressive teams in the league this season. With Giants legend Buster Posey taking over as president of the team’s baseball operations, it’s time for a new era in San Francisco, including aggressive spending in free agency.

But it could also include trade pieces from the 2024 roster as the team looks to transition the page header to 2025.

ESPNs Jeff Passan recently revealed that the Giants have two players that they might want to shop this winter if the right offer comes across their desk.

“LaMonte Wade Jr., first baseman: As new president of baseball operations, Buster Posey reinterprets the Giants’ roster, Wade — whose .376 on-base percentage ranks 11th among 144 players with at least 900 plate appearances in the past two year — is available, as is outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, a free agent after the 2025 season,” Passan wrote.

The 30-year-old Wade will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026. However, he has been special over the past two years. Through the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Wade has posted 4.8 WAR while slashing .258/.376/.401 with 25 home runs and 30 doubles in 252 games.

The 34-year-old Yastrzemski will also enter free agency in 2026. He has posted at least 2.0 WAR in each of his six seasons in the major leagues. Yastrzemski consistently hits in the .230 to .240 range with an OPS of around .770.

Both players should receive some interest if they are seriously dangling from the trading block. There’s a chance San Francisco is just surveying their market instead of actively looking for the two stars.
