Dorothy Ilott of Mashpee died after being struck by a car

Police have identified a 92-year-old woman as the person killed Friday morning in Mashpee while walking a dog.

Dorothy L. Ilott of Mashpee was killed the one-car pedestrian accident that occurred at 7 a.m. on Friday, Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said in a statement.

Ilott, who was hit on Job’s Fishing Road, was initially taken away Falmouth Hospitalthe police said. A dog Ilott was walking died at the scene.

Mashpee police and Mashpee rescue and fire personnel found Ilott lying in the northbound lane with what appeared to be “serious injuries.”

The driver of the motor vehicle remained present while police investigated, the news release said. A portion of Jobs Fishing Road was closed while police investigated the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team.
