Kevin Costner celebrates in New York with athlete Rainy Castaneda after the death of ‘Yellowstone’

Kevin Costner appeared unbothered a day after his “Yellowstone” character died during the show’s Season 5B premiere.

The actor was seen smiling and laughing at a party in New York City on Monday night, as he attended a Meet & Greet hosted by Jason Binn of DuJour Media.

At one point, the “Bodyguard” actor posed for a photo next to athlete Rainy Castaneda, 30, who wore a classic black maxi dress for the event.

Costner, who his divorce settled from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner in September, looking particularly dapper in a navy turtleneck and black glasses.

The outing comes shortly after he opened up about his character’s death and admitted in Sunday’s episode he was in no hurry to look his character’s final episode.

“I haven’t seen it,” he said on Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Michael Smerconish Program.” “I heard it’s suicide, so that doesn’t make me want to rush to see it.”

Costner further insinuated that the show’s writers may have a bigger plan for the Dutton patriarch’s death.

“Well, they’re pretty smart people,” he continued. “Maybe it’s a red herring. Who knows? They are very good. And they are going to find out.”

Although it appeared as if John Dutton died by suicide, it was revealed later in the episode that Dutton’s death was the result of a hit orchestrated by Sarah Atwood, his son Jamie Dutton’s girlfriend.

After reports surfaced that Costner would not return to the series after five seasons, he confirmed that his departure was not entirely his decision, saying: “I didn’t leave. I haven’t quit the show.”

The reason for his departure was due to scheduling and contract issues, as he was also working on the four-part series “Horizon: An American Saga,” he explained.

“There were holes out there,” Costner said. “There were contractual things that allowed both things to be done, but because both things were contractual you had to make room for the other.”
