As a trade editor, I am constantly testing/reviewing/receiving new products as part of my job. I say this because with everything that comes across my desk, it’s been a minute since I’ve been truly surprised by anything. We’re talking the jaw-on-the-floor-I-need-this-immediate kind of thing wow. Enter: Away new sparkling suitcases.

I attended Away’s holiday preview event earlier this month (a roller disco – very appropriate, as it turns out!) and literally stood still when I saw the suitcase du jour. It’s unlike any other luggage I have seen: It has a glitter injected hard shell which is so full coverage and so shiny that it has a satisfying, almost faint, tactile glitter look.

Then it has a really cool glossy hard shell coating about the sparkle so it doesn’t scrape off and leave glitter behind when you leave the airport (which is a must if you’re carrying this suitcase).

IMO, the pictures on the Road site and the campaign doesn’t do it justice. You have to see it IRL – preferably under the light of a disco ball. It is available in two colors: supernova silver and galaxy blue.

I mean, look at that sparkle.

I bet if you clicked on this, you’re already familiar with it Away. But just in case that’s not the case, I affectionately call it the Warby Parker of luggage. (Remember when Warby Parker revolutionized online eyewear ordering in the early 2010s? Yeah, that was kind of gone for luggage in 2016.) And while the DTC luggage market is so much more saturated these days, you’ll still see a gazillion Away suitcases every time you go to baggage claim.

I own mine Larger hand luggage since Christmas 2019 (thanks, Dad!) and it has served me well for the past five years. I’ve taken it on almost every flight since, from long European vacations to short weekend trips, and I’ve loved it. The exterior is a bit scuffed and scuffed, but the wheels, handle and zipper are as sturdy as ever. This sparkling version is the exact same, durable Away suitcase we all know and loveit is simply decorated in its holiday best.

TBH, I can’t think of a better one gift for the jetsetter in your life: This vintage-inspired suitcase is like a miniature suitcase – big enough to store and organize makeup, toiletries and technology, but small enough to fit in a suitcase. personal articlesuch as a large tote bag or travel backpack. It’s available in five other colors, if for some reason they don’t like the sparkle (I can’t understand!).

Seriously, I haven’t freaked out about a new colorway like this in a long time. I bet it will sell out before the holidays, so be like me and add yours to your cart so you never lose track of your bags on the carousel again.
