Lewiston Police Locate Stolen Portland Vehicle, Arrest Minor

LEWISTON – Police located a stolen car outside Portland Monday evening after ending a short but potentially dangerous chase.

Lewiston Police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said officers received information Monday just after 7:30 p.m. that a recently stolen vehicle from Portland was downtown. Police were able to locate the car, but the driver refused to stop and fled the area.

“LPD terminated the stop due to safety concerns and the vehicle was later found unoccupied,” St. Laurent said.

A 17-year-old boy was later found and arrested in connection with the theft.

St. Laurent said the juvenile was charged with auto theft and transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland for probation.
