Man found shot, seriously injured after crashing into Birmingham Family Dollar

A man was found shot and seriously injured when he crashed his vehicle into a North Birmingham Family Dollar.

North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 3100 block of 26th Street North on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m.

Sergeant LaQuitta Wade said police arrived on scene to find the victim in the driver’s seat. He had been shot at least once.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the man to UAB Hospital. His wounds could potentially be life-threatening, police said.

Wade said it appears the victim was shot at or near the Marathon gas station in the 3400 block of 26th Street. He traveled several blocks before hitting a pole and the Family Dollar.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been announced.
