Woman killed in motorcycle accident identified

The passenger killed in a motorcycle crash in Newark last week has been identified as 36-year-old Keley Smith-Krocke of Marion, according to Newark police.

The accident happened near 427 West Union Street on Thursday around 4:45 p.m. Police said the motorcyclist drove onto the sidewalk and lost control while trying to return to the roadway, causing Smith-Krocke to be thrown from the motorcycle before it crashed.

A member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department performed CPR on Smith-Krocke until police arrived and assisted.

She was taken to Newark Wayne Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
