Owner of Chinese Rolls-Royce refuses compensation from truck driver, angry about online fame claims

A Rolls-Royce owner in China refused compensation from a truck driver after a minor collision, but was left feeling disheartened by claims she staged the incident to gain online fame.

Recently, a truck made a U-turn in Guangzhou, South China, and unexpectedly collided with a pink Rolls-Royce worth more than 6 million Yuan ($830,000).

The car owner, surnamed Zhu, calmly took a selfie in front of the damaged hood and posted it on her social media with the caption: “Since I can’t change it, I accept it.”

The police later found the truck driver fully responsible. Zhu’s husband noted that repair costs remain uncertain because the car is currently at a garage.

Zhu said the truck driver, surnamed Li, only had insurance coverage of 1 million yuan, which would likely be insufficient to cover the repair costs.

On November 7, Zhu posted a video about Douyin, announcing her decision not to seek compensation from the truck driver and that she would cover the repair costs herself.
