Motorcyclist dies after being thrown from vehicle in Monroe County collision with a service truck

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 53-year-old man on a motorcycle was killed after colliding with a service truck on I-75 in Monroe County.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 5:43 am. Troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to northbound I-75 near M-26 for the two-vehicle crash.

The crash involved the motorcycle driven by the 53-year-old man from Detroit and the service truck driven by another 53-year-old man from Dundee.

Following a police investigation, the maroon Honda motorcycle was traveling north on I-75 when, according to Troopers, it struck the rear of the northbound service truck, ejecting it from the motorcycle.

As a result, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the spot.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck were not injured.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and there appeared to be no alcohol or drugs involved.

The incident remains under investigation by Michigan State Police.

Michigan State Police were assisted by the South Rockwood Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance.
