50-year-old dead after fight in Eastlake community

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Police say one person is dead after an early morning altercation at a home in Birmingham’s Eastlake community.

Birmingham police received a call around 2:13 a.m. Wednesday for a person shot in the 6800 block of 68th Street South.

When they arrived on scene, first responders found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

The victim was later identified as 50-year-old Arlington Jerome Daniel, of Birmingham.

According to police, several people were in the home at the time of the shooting. Although it appeared shots were fired from inside and outside the home, no one else was injured as a result of the shooting.

Birmingham police are encouraging residents to find other solutions to problems outside of gun violence.

“We ask everyone to find another solution to any problem, rather than resorting to gun violence,” said Sgt. Laquitta Wade said Wednesday morning. “Gun violence is a problem and taking someone’s life is not the solution to your problem.”

According to police, no one was arrested Wednesday morning.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
