A teenage gang member shot two other teens after the WPB high school football game, police say

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Two teenagers were shot in a West Palm Beach plaza after a high school football game by a 16-year-old allegedly associated with a Riviera Beach gang called the Navy Sharks.

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) reported that on Friday, November 4, at approximately 11:13 PM, they received multiple calls regarding gunshots and children fleeing the Food Town Shopping Plaza, located at 5335 North Military Trail near the Palm Beaches CACTI Park .

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his lower leg and a 14-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her thigh. Both were quickly taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, witnesses reported that a group of teenagers had gathered in the shopping plaza following a football game between Palm Beach Lakes High School and Dwyer High School. Witnesses described a confrontation between two groups of boys, which escalated when one group threatened to shoot.

A witness reported seeing a damaged white car pull into the parking lot, from which Xavier Houston, known in the area as “TOPSINNER” and reportedly affiliated with the Riviera Beach gang Navy Sharks, got out and began shooting into the crowd. Additional gunfire was also reported coming from the white car.

After the shooting, the teen reportedly fled the scene, only to return moments later to ask a witness if they had seen what happened. He was overheard on the phone saying, “Calm down everyone, stop shooting.”

He is charged with two counts of attempted murder with a firearm and possession of a weapon.
