Man charged in connection with fatal shooting on Meridian St., denied bail

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAF– One of five men charged in connection with October’s deadly shooting in Huntsville has been denied bond, according to court documents obtained by WAFF on Wednesday.

Court records show 20-year-old Jordan Lakes was denied bond after a Nov. 8 hearing.

Lakes, along with four others including Jordan Smith, 21, Kennedy Turner, 20, Tyler O’Neal Andrade, 21, and Dion Roos-VorHauer, 19, have been charged in the shootings of Damien Manning, 22, and Davante Dixon, 24. All suspects face reckless homicide charges .

The incident took place on October 12 near a gas station at 3310 Meridian Street, where one victim, Manning, was found dead at the scene and another victim, Dixon, died weeks later.

Court documents show Lakes fired at least 12 bullets into a crowded parking lot with about 100 people. He fled after the shooting and reportedly showed an ‘extreme indifference to human life’, with the threat to public safety being significant in his behavior in the incident. .

Lakes was arrested on November 7, almost a month after the incident.

Huntsville Police continue to investigate the incident.
