Stronger storms possible in the evening and night

(WALA) – Most of our area is at a marginal Level 1 risk for severe weather tonight. Our counties in Mississippi are at a small level 2 risk. This is due to a front moving through the area in the evening with rain and storms. These storms carry a risk of severe weather, including heavy rain, gusty winds and a very low risk of tornadoes. The timing of possible severe weather is from 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM

The cold front should clear the area Thursday morning. Cooler, drier and brighter conditions will move in behind the front. The high will be in the mid-seventies.

Friday and the weekend look fantastic. Lows will be in the 50s and highs in the mid 70s. The sky is sunny, humidity is low and there will be no rain all weekend.

The tropics are not ready yet. The National Hurricane Center has begun issuing advisories on possible Tropical Cyclone 19 in the Caribbean. The system had winds of 30 km/h and was moving westwards at a speed of 6 km/h. The system is expected to remain essentially stationary throughout the weekend. The models suggest this system will eventually work toward the Gulf and southwest Florida by the middle of next week. Stay informed.
