Veteran AEW wrestler The Blade provides update on injury recovery

Veteran AEW wrestler The Blade has some hopeful news regarding a recent injury, with his wife saying he’s doing “really well.”

The Blade has not wrestled since an injury in February and reportedly underwent back surgery at one point, which can be a risky proposition for athletes in the ring. During a virtual signing for RDP promotions this weekend, his wife Allie gave an update on her husband, revealing that he is now two months removed from back fusion surgery.

Allie said The Blade is recovering well and recently started physical therapy as part of his ongoing rehabilitation. She said: “He’s hanging in there. He’s just started his physiotherapy. His back surgery went really well. I’m really proud of him. He’s doing a lot of stand-up comedy at the moment, and he’s really just focused on getting healthy. ” “

Moreover, she was part of AEW from 2019 to 2023. She left the company after a Championship Eliminator match against former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter, in which she suffered a legitimately broken eye socket.

In April, The Blade posted on Instagram to explain his absence from the ring. He wrote: “Hello Instagram. My apologies, it’s been a while. I’m currently on the road with a lower back injury. Two bulging discs, L2 L3 and L4 L5. Plus two ruptured discs, L3 L4 and L5 S1.”

The Blade began his career in the WWE developmental circuits before moving on to Hollywood’s Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Chikara and Championship Wrestling. In 2017, he debuted as one half of the tag team The Butcher and the Blade, eventually joining AEW in 2019.
