NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – North Charleston police say a second juvenile is charged in connection with a shooting that left a high school student athlete dead over the weekend.

The second juvenile, whose name and age have not been released, is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Harve Jacobs said.

The shooting happened Sunday around 6:03 p.m. near Chestnut Street, police said.

The victim, who identified Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal as 16-year-old Jamere Milligandied on the way to the hospital from a gunshot wound.

The first juvenile, who was arrested Monday, faces the same charges, Jacobs said.

North Charleston High School Athletics posted a photo of Milligan on its Instagram page and called him one of their “beloved student-athletes,” adding, “He will be missed.”

The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
