The 97-year-old former Merrill cheerleader is putting on his uniform again

MERRILL, MI (WNEM) – A 97-year-old Merrill woman was able to relive her days as a Merrill Vandal cheerleader on Wednesday, November 13.

Merrill Community Schools said 97-year-old Ilagene Doehring is a former high school cheerleader and she reminisced about those times with her caregivers.

She said she made her first Merrill Vandal cheer outfit and wanted to wear one again, so they asked for help on Facebook.

On Monday, cheer coach Jena Glazier was able to help Doehring get back into a cheer uniform.

She was able to cheer a few times with the current team.
