Suspect hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Boise

BOISE, Idaho – A traffic stop resulted in an officer-involved shooting in Boise Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., a BPD officer made a traffic stop near Division Avenue and Howe Street. During the stop, the passenger in the car gave officers false information during the stop. The passenger then pulled out a knife and ran toward a neighborhood near S. Division Avenue, according to police.

BPD says a Boise police officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect. According to police, they provided medical care until the ambulance arrived.

The other occupants of the car remained at the traffic stop.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. The condition of the suspect is unknown.

Police say the scene of the incident has been secured and there is no longer a threat to the public. The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Garden City Police Department, is investigating the incident.
