A shooting in south Kansas City leaves a teenage boy dead as officers search for answers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A shooting in south Kansas City is under investigation after a teenager was killed, police said Wednesday evening.

Kansas City Missouri Police were called to the area of ​​the 7500 block of E. 85th Terrace for a shooting just before 6:30 p.m.

There, police said they found a teenage boy suffering from gunshot trauma. The youth, “over 15 years of age,” was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead.

Police said no person of interest has been identified and no one is in custody following the shooting at Stonewood Apartments.

The location is just east of I-435.

Preliminary investigation led police to believe that a disturbance in the area involving an unknown number of people escalated into shots being fired and the victim being struck.
