Woman says ex-colleague drugged and raped her and extorted 3.8 liters

Pune: A former call center employee (26) filed a police complaint accusing her ex-colleague of giving her packaged drinking water laced with mephedrone, raping her in a lodge and extorting Rs3.8 lakh by threatening to make her photos and videos viral.
Kalepadal police are investigating the case and said the crime took place between August 2023 and November 12.
Senior Inspector Mansing Patil said on Wednesday that the woman and the suspect were working together at a call center in Yerawada. They lost their jobs and started looking for work. They appeared for interviews and wrote tests for this at private companies. Patil said that in one case, the duo gave two interviews at a company and were told to appear online for the third interview from a place where there was no noise pollution. The two chose a lodge for this. The man allegedly gave the woman water containing mephedrone (MD), he said.
The police officer said that the woman in her complaint accused the man of raping her in the guest room and clicking her pictures, besides filming her. He demanded money to keep the photos and videos from going viral.
The complaint stated that the survivor, annoyed by the extortion demand, paid Rs 1,02,850 online and Rs 2.8 lakh in cash. However, the suspect continued to demand money, following which the survivor approached the police and filed a complaint. An FIR was registered with Kondhwa police and transferred to Kalepadal police for action as the incident had taken place within the latter’s jurisdiction, he added.
Assistant Inspector Amit Shete said a police team visited the suspect’s residence in Kondhwa but he was not there. The survivor alleged that MD was used to drug her before the rape. The information provided by the woman would be verified after the suspect is arrested, he added.
