Washington County Grand Jury Indicts Lowell Man, 23 Others | News, sports, jobs

A Washington County grand jury indicted a Lowell man Wednesday afternoon for his involvement in an October standoff.

According to Chief Deputy Mark Warden, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team responded to a home with a distraught individual on the evening of October 27. The man was identified as Tom Shank of Lowell. The principal was notified of the incident around 6 p.m., he said, and officers contacted Shanks, but he retreated to the living area on the second floor of a detached garage.

“He basically barricaded himself there.” said director.

The Sheriff’s Office established a perimeter around the scene and attempted to contact Shanks through negotiators, but Warden said the efforts were unsuccessful, so the Sheriff’s Office launched drones.

‘He actually fired weapons at the drones’ said director.

He said Shanks also fired weapons in the residential area of ​​the detached garage.

Shank, now identified as Thomas Lee Shank II, 64, 212 Fifth St., Lowell, was charged with one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm into or into a dwelling or school safety area, a second-degree felony, and one count of panic causing, a felony of the fifth degree.

Those also charged include:

* Christopher Carl Parsley, 44, Rt. 1 Box 171D, Williamson, W.Va., one count each of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, as of October 2023.

* Calvin V. Bradley, 38, 7278 Colonial Affair Dr., New Albany, Ohio, one count each of trafficking in cocaine; possession of cocaine; trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound; and possession of a fentanyl-related substance, all first-degree felonies; and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a first-degree misdemeanor, as of August. Bradley is also identified as a major drug offender and had specifications for cell phone and cash forfeiture in a drug case.

* Javon Ramir Jones, 22, 1244 Burkhart Ave., Akron, one count each of trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana, both third-degree felonies, as of July 2023.

* Jeffery Boyd Jeffers, 58, 105 Muskingum Dr., Marietta, each charge of possessing weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; unlawful possession of dangerous ammunition, a fifth-degree felony; and two counts of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, from September.

* Alicia Danielle Woods, 40, homeless, one count each of strangulation and disrupting public service, both fourth-degree felonies; and domestic violence, a first-degree felony, starting in September. In a separate case, Woods was also charged with illegally transporting drugs onto the grounds of a specific government facility, a third-degree felony, starting in September.

* Co-defendants Brian Kenneth Taylor, 29, 2742 Milltown Road, Reno, and Brittany Elizabeth Taylor, 25, same address, each charged with four counts of child endangerment, a third-degree felony, as of August.

*Co-defendants Eric “Toby” Ellis Luke, 38, 711 Second St., Marietta; Lakyn Nikole Hunter, 24, 165 Starlite Dr., Lot 17, Marietta; and Kirk Russell Slider, 31, last known address 26935 St. Rt. 7, apt. 2A, Marietta, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, both fourth-degree felonies, from July.

* Co-defendants Bradley Allen Whitlatch, 43, 824 37th St., Vienna, and Tyren Travon Thompson, 30, 879 N. Jenkins Boulevard, Akron, one count each of aggravated drug trafficking and aggravated drug possession, both first-degree felonies, and trafficking in a fentanyl related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both second-degree felonies, as of October. Whitlatch and Thompson also had specifications for the forfeiture of cash and cellphones in a drug case.

* Travis John Jones, 45, 4200 Ellis Rd., Coolville, one count of aggravated drug possession, a fifth-degree felony, from December 2023.

* Dylan Mitchell Sprague, 22, homeless, one count each of strangulation, a third-degree felony; assault, a second-degree felony; aggravated menacing, a first-degree felony, resisting arrest and obstructing official business, both second-degree felonies; and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree felony, starting in November.

* Terry Brian Fox, 50, 312 Walnut St., Belpre, each adjudicated on aggravated drug possession, a third-degree felony; and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree felony, beginning in August 2023.

* Michael M. Murray, 56, 2517 Moody Ridge Rd., Vincent, two counts of theft, a fourth-degree felony, as of April 2019.

* Brent John McKinney, 50, 29075 St. Rt. 7, Marietta, one count of aggravated drug possession, a fifth-degree felony, from July.

* Dustin Lee McKnight, 39, last known address 8239 St. Rt. 60, Lowell, one count of grand larceny of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, from November 2023.

* Douglas Lee Landers, 45, 326 Kenna Drive, Charleston, one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, from October.

* John Muiu Porter, 36, 33497 Brownsville Co. Line Rd., New Matamoras, two counts of assault, a fourth-degree felony; and one charge of obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony; and resisting arrest, a second-degree felony, as of September.

* Jason Anthony Dick, 46, 416 Ramblewood Rd., Patriot, Ohio, one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony, from August.

* Miranda Elaine King, 30, 16066 Heilands Kies Rd., Botkins, Ohio, one count each of burglary, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor theft, a first-degree felony, starting in September.

Marcelo Lopez Martinez, 26, homeless, one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony; and three counts of receiving stolen property, two fifth-degree felonies and one first-degree felony, from November.
