A South Carolina woman got a terrible start to her Tuesday earlier this month when she found an unexpected guest behind the toilet.

The woman turned on the bathroom light in her Columbia apartment around 5 a.m. on November 5 and found a ball python behind the porcelain throne.

She screamed at the sight and told Richland County deputies that she first called a friend to help take care of the snake, according to an incident report obtained Wednesday by USA TODAY. The two then called the police and officers were able to squeeze the python into a pillowcase and out of the bathroom.

No person or snake was injured during the removal process.

Python moves on to ‘forever home,’ deputies say

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department got to work on it Facebook hours after the move to share the news, briefly describe the situation and provide photos.

“Cops and snake handlers?!” the agency wrote. “RCSD emergency services responded to a call for assistance regarding a snake in the bathroom! Understandably, this resident was ready to find a new place without snakes and needed a report.”

Sheriff’s deputy Shannon Huffman “knew exactly what to do” when she arrived, allowing for a safe removal, the sheriff’s department wrote in the post.
