Truck driver in court for sexually abusing a male passenger

Two men from Bulawayo, Richard Ncube (48) and Alex Moyo (22), appeared in Harare court charged with aggravated indecent assault following allegations of sexually assaulting a male passenger they offered a lift to. The incident reportedly took place on the night of November 10, 2024.

According to the prosecution, the complainant boarded a Top Channel Transport truck at Halfway, Chegutu, intending to travel to Chitungwiza via Harare. Ncube drove the truck while Moyo accompanied him as his assistant.

The court heard that upon arriving in Harare at around 1am on November 11, Ncube parked the truck at Zim Meal Company in Waterfalls, where the complainant decided to wait until the morning. As he fell asleep, Ncube reportedly took off his clothes and tried to touch the complainant inappropriately, prompting him to ask Ncube to stop.

Moyo then allegedly threatened the complainant with a gun-like object, ordering him to comply with Ncube’s advances. The complainant allegedly complied with the demands under duress. After the incident, he spent the night in the truck because he was unfamiliar with the area.

The next morning, the complainant went to ZRP Mbare to report the incident, which led to the arrest of Ncube and Moyo. Both men were remanded in custody by Magistrate Ms Marehwanazvo Gofa, with a bail hearing on November 19, 2024.
