19-year-old in critical condition after tractor-trailer crash in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after police say his vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer early this morning.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 21 and US 20.

Officers say the 19-year-old was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu south on County Road 21 when he collided with a trailer being towed by a 2005 Peterbilt Semi traveling west on US 20.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 19-year-old Goshen man, was taken to the hospital with apparent life-threatening internal injuries.

The 32-year-old Ohio man driving the semi was not injured in the crash. Police say the trailer itself had minimal damage.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Team is still investigating this crash.
