The Johnstown City Council announces its 2025 budget and highlights entertainment tax revenue

The Johnstown City Council introduced the proposed 2025 budget and emphasized that they want to avoid tax increases for residents.

Community members attended the open meeting Wednesday evening at the Public Safety Building, which gave residents the opportunity to engage with city officials and discuss the city’s budget plans.

The budget proposals emphasized funding allocations for essential public utility equipment, the ongoing maintenance of city-owned properties such as the ITC parking garage, and increased support for various city departments in need of additional resources.

City Manager Art Martynuska provided insight into the financial strategy, explaining that the city aims to maximize entertainment tax revenue.

“We are very aggressive in making sure we reach the full potential of this tax,” Martynuska said. “We are also exploring ways to reduce the impact on property taxes.”

Council members emphasized their commitment to avoiding tax increases for Johnstown residents.

Officials stated that a careful review of current fund distributions is underway to ensure a responsible budget without additional tax burden.
