Hyderabad: Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court was speaking about a land dispute involving Sy. No. 182, located in Nagaram Village, Maheshwaram Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. The petitioner, a co-owner of the disputed land, has raised concerns over the issuance of Pattadar passbooks to private parties for land in dispute despite a pending petition in which the court had earlier ordered status quo. The dispute pertains to Bhudan land and the petitioner alleges that despite the status quo order, the revenue authorities and the Telangana Bhoodan Yagna administration have issued pattadar passbooks to other parties, citing the legal implications of the pending case over the have been overlooked. The petitioner had previously appealed against a decision to change the name of the private respondent in the tax records. The appeal was allowed by the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Kandukur in June 2019.

The petitioner subsequently filed a review before the Special Tribunal under the Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Passbooks Act, 2020, which was dismissed in January 2021, thus confirming the earlier order. Counsel for the petitioner submitted that despite the status quo order arising out of the pending petition, the authorities have issued pattadar passbooks and allowed transactions on the disputed land.

The petitioner contended that the authorities concerned, including the revenue department and the Telangana Bhoodan Yagna administration, had issued these documents without taking into account the court’s order or the Bhudan land dispute. While hearing the arguments, Justice Bhaskar Reddy issued an interim order suspending the succession granted to the private party for the disputed land. The court has determined that the case will be heard for further hearing on November 28, 2024.
