Earlier: In 2023, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Corruption sent a case against Derkach to court for high treason and illegal enrichment. Investigators determined that he received at least $567,000 from Russian law enforcement and intelligence services for subversive activities against Ukraine.

According to the investigation, Derkach, MP Oleksandr Dubinskyi and former prosecutor Kostiantyn Kulyk, on behalf of the Russian secret services, organized events to discredit Ukraine’s image in the international arena, in order to worsen diplomatic relations with the United States and to make Ukraine’s accession to the United States more difficult. Background:

• In August 2021, the National Security and Defense Council imposed personal economic restrictive sanctions on MP Andrii Derkach.
