GOP Trump ally in the Senate issues a scathing assessment of Gaetz’s pick for attorney general

President-elect Donald Trump could have a hard time pushing Attorney General Matt Gaetz through the Republican Senate.

Trump ally Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) called the Gaetz selection ‘a reckless choice’ Politico reported this.

“I think he has a zero percent chance of passing the Senate,” Miller said.

Republicans will have a 53-47 majority in the Senate in January, meaning they can approve Trump appointments without any votes from Democrats.

But other Republicans are also speaking out against Gaetz, who is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee for sex with underage girls, illegal drug use, accepting inappropriate gifts, and providing special privileges and favors to people with whom he has an affair. had a personal relationship. and attempting to obstruct government investigations into his conduct.

Some Republicans were shocked by Trump’s choice of Gaetz to lead the US Justice Department.

Swing-vote GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said she “doesn’t think it’s a serious nomination for attorney general,” Politico reported.

Another, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), told reporters she was “shocked” by Gaetz’s selection.

“Obviously the president has the right to nominate whoever he wants, but I’m sure there will be a lot of questions,” Collins said.

Other Republicans expressing doubts about the Gaetz choice include Sens. Thom Tillis (RN.C.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa). No senator has yet publicly said they would definitively vote against the Gaetz pick.

The House is expected to release its report on Gaetz within days. Gaetz resigned from the House of Representatives on Wednesday evening.

In a clip on Newsweek reports this.

“I mean, I would describe it as god-level trolling that has created an entire China syndrome of owning the libs forever,” Fetterman told an NBC reporter.

“It’s just trolling,” he said.

Fetterman continued on his own X-page, saying that “Dem opinions on Gaetz aren’t that interesting. The good ones will come from my GOP colleagues to justify a vote for that j—off.”

Fetterman added that Trump has made some good cabinet choices, including U.S. Senator Marco Rubio as secretary of state and Representative Elise Stefanik as ambassador to the United Nations.
