Several lanes were blocked for hours on I-65 due to an overturned semi that was about to reopen near Franklin

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) – Latest: Franklin police announced that the portion of Interstate 65 that has been blocked for hours should reopen at approximately 4 p.m.

Earlier in the day, sometime before 1 p.m., a semi-truck being towed by a tow lift came off the hook and overturned on the roadway.

Update: Franklin police say the lanes of Interstate 65 North will be closed for several hours near the McEwen Drive exit.

The semi-truck was being towed by a tow truck when it became loose for unknown reasons, according to officers working the scene.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

“Several lanes will be closed for several hours. Cleanup efforts are already underway,” the FPD said.

Previously: Franklin Police are warning motorists to avoid the northbound lanes of I-65 near the McEwen Drive exit.

A semi rolled over and blocked several lanes.

FPD advised motorists to seek alternate routes and avoid the area.
