Headwaters Foundation announces new CEO

An organization that has invested more than $28 million in area nonprofits is announcing new leadership.

Headwaters Foundation announced on Thursday that the long search for a new CEO is over and ended up with Carly Hare (Pawnee/Yankton).

Hare’s Pawnee, <<>i kita u hoo <<>i )a hiks, translates to “kind leader of men.”

She previously worked in Great Falls as a teacher and said she is looking forward to returning to the Treasure State from Denver, Colorado.

Hare’s decades of experience in the nonprofit sector made her a top choice.

When asked where she wants to take the foundation, she said it’s about sticking with what works and connecting nonprofits.

“So how do we build power and support the ecosystem of the nonprofit and community networks that are currently active, and how can we bring these networks together on the west side of Montana?” said Haas.

Hare will officially take over in early 2025.

“(Hare’s) commitment to trust-based philanthropy and her passion for equity, community engagement and building authentic relationships resonated with us and aligned perfectly with our work at Headwaters,” Carissa Kuhl, chair of the Headwaters Foundation, said in a statement . “We are confident that under Carly’s leadership we will continue to make a meaningful impact on the health of Western Montana residents.”
