Two UConn students arrested after forging a gun and shouting orders in the dining hall

STORRS, CT (WFSB) – Two UConn students were arrested after shouting orders and pretending to have a gun in the dining hall.

This incident happened on November 7.

Thanh Bao, 18, and Nathanael Ghez, 18, were arrested for conspiracy at the scene.

UConn police determined the students were reenacting a viral TikTok video.

Police said Bao shouted commands while holding a black cellphone with both hands and posing forward as if he were holding a firearm.

Ghez recorded this incident on his phone and shouted in collaboration with Bao.

This incident caused fear and alarmed the people in the dining hall.

UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz released a statement regarding this incident.

Federal privacy laws prohibit UConn from discussing whether specific students could face disciplinary action. In general, however, students who are deemed to have engaged in conduct that endangers safety and/or disrupts regular activities may face a review of the Student Code of Conduct and may be subject to sanctions, up to and including deportation..”

Both students are scheduled to appear in court on November 21.
