Police: Man stabbed in chest on street in Schenectady | News

SCHENECTADY – A man walking down the street in Schenectady’s Bellevue neighborhood early Thursday was approached and stabbed in the chest, police said.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and was in stable condition late Thursday morning, police said.

The incident happened just after midnight on Arthur Street, police said.

The first call came in to the Euclid Avenue area for a report of a man who had been stabbed, police said.

Officers arrived to find the man walking down Arthur Street when he was approached by an unknown man who then assaulted him, police said. The victim then fled to Euclid Avenue, where police found him.

According to police, the victim suffered a laceration to his shin and a stab wound to his chest.

No one was in custody as of late Thursday morning and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
