Pollution in Delhi: Construction banned, vehicular access restricted | See what is and is not allowed from tomorrow

Pollution in Delhi: As Delhi continued to record alarming levels of pollution reaching ‘severe’ in the Air Quality Index (AQI), the Central Pollution Control Agency imposed stricter restrictions in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) under Phase III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The restrictions include a ban on demolition and construction activities and entry of certain vehicles within Delhi-NCR, to prevent further deterioration in air quality.

Air quality in Delhi-NCR remains in the ‘severe’ category for the second day in a row, prompting authorities to impose strict anti-pollution measures. The GRAP III sidewalks will be enforced from 8am on Friday, November 15.

Are the schools closed from tomorrow?

Yes! The Delhi government has decided to do so suspend in-person classes for students. All classes up to Class 5 will be shifted to online mode, Prime Minister Atishi announced on Thursday as GRAP 3 restrictions came into force in Delhi-NCR.

What else is banned and what is allowed in Delhi-NCR?

As per GRAP 3 guidelines, mechanized sweeping of roads will be intensified.

Construction and demolition work however, are permitted for projects in the field of hospitals, healthcare institutions, national security, defense related activities, projects of national importance, water supply projects, public infrastructure projects such as works on highways, roads etc.

Under the third phase of the GRAP, all Inter-State buses from NCR states – except electric vehicles, CNG vehicles and BS-VI diesel buses – entry into Delhi will be banned.

There would be restrictions on plying of BS-lll petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles in Delhi and Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar districts from 8 am tomorrow.

All Inter-State buses from other NCR states then EVs/CNG/BS-VI diesel are not allowed to enter Delhi – this does not apply to buses/tempo travelers operating with All India Tourist PermiN.
