The typical autumn weather returns to our region

MERIDIAN, Madam (WTOK) –

We are behind a cold front and the cooler air is moving in. So make sure you bring a jacket or sweater before you head out the next morning. You’ll start the day in the low to mid 40s if you head out early Friday through Sunday. These numbers are seasonal and what you would expect for wake-up temperatures at this time of year. It may also be cold enough for some of you to turn on the heating.

Afternoon temperatures will also be more “fall-like” on Friday, with temperatures in the low 70s. Highs will be slightly above average on Saturday with low 70s, then highs will rise well above average on Sunday in the mid 70s…but still relatively pleasant for most.

FIRST WARNING – POSSIBLE FIRST FROST OF THE SEASON

Rain won’t be a problem this weekend, but rain chances return early next week ahead of a strong cold front moving through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Behind that system you can expect the coldest air of the season so far the potential for the FIRST FROST of the season. Early estimates show lows could drop into the mid-30s starting next Friday morning…and last through next weekend. So start preparing for the colder nights/mornings at the end of next week. Keep an eye on our First Alert Weather Teams for updates as we get closer to the ‘autumn chill’.
