California woman identified in fatal crash in Las Vegas, police say

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a crash involving a pickup truck in Las Vegas.

The police reported the accident happened Sunday evening on I-15 and Cheyenne near the exit. A Ford F-150 was approaching the Cheyenne exit when Araeli Jasmin Morales walked into the path of the truck.

According to police, the driver struck the pedestrian with his right front side. The driver continued on the off-amp, but turned back.

Police said the driver cooperated with officers and remained at the scene.

Morales is a 31-year-old from Salida, California. She died on the spot.

The investigation is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Traffic Homicide Unit.

2024 Year to Date: Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command has investigated 64 fatal crashes, resulting in 72 fatalities.

Fatalities data for 2024 is preliminary and is subject to change/update based on the final investigation and coroner’s reports.
