After a few days of drama in Chestnut Hill, Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos announced Thursday evening that he is leaving the Eagles’ football program.

“First of all, I would like to thank the fans and the entire BC community for the past two years. I am blessed enough to play here,” the QB posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter). “I truly appreciate all the support you have given me and I will cherish the memories and relationships I have built.

He continued: “Thank you to the two groups of great coaches who have taught me invaluable lessons both on and off the field. Thank you to the men I played with who have now become brothers. More than anything I have grown in faith and love and I appreciate every opportunity I have been given and worked towards during my time here. I have had some of the best experiences of my life at the Eagles Nest and I will cherish these memories forever Things will come to an end, even if it does sooner than I would like, I will trust God and His plan for me confidence during my journey. You will always have a special place in my heart, Thomas Castellanos.

Castellanos left the Eagles’ 37-31 win against Syracuse last Saturday with an injury and was replaced by backup Grayson James. On Tuesday, head coach Bill O’Brien announced that James will continue as BC’s starter and that Castellanos has resigned from the team.

“Tommy obviously wasn’t very excited… and he decided to leave,” O’Brien told WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Thursday. “We wish Tommy the best. We think highly of him and we wish him the best, but we will rally behind Grayson.”
