Suspected fugitive child molester from Gilbert found in Mexico

NOGALES, AZ (AZFamily) After three weeks on the run, a suspected child abuse suspect from Gilbert has been taken into custody after being found south of the border, officials said Thursday.

Mexican police took Randall Arrington into custody on Monday, according to Gilbert police.

Researchers said he missed a court hearing on October 21 while on bail as he waited for his child molestation trial to begin early next year.

Arrington was originally arrested in September 2023 on 18 felony charges, including sexual conduct with a minor, child abuse and sexual abuse.

Family members said he admitted to years of abuse.

But Arrington did not show up for the court hearing.

The family feared he could be anywhere, but the US Marshals Service believed he had cut his ankle monitor, sold his house and fled to Mexico.

The federal agents with Mexican officials, who then found and arrested Arrington.

He was driven to the Port of Entry in Nogales where he was turned over to Gilbert Police.

“Of all the dangerous fugitives that U.S. Marshals arrest, those accused of crimes against minors are especially important to us and our communities,” the spokesperson said. United States Marshal for the District of Arizona, Van Bayless. “The tireless work and cooperation between local, federal and international law enforcement agencies has ensured that those who betray the trust of children are held accountable for their actions.”

Arrington will face additional charges for missing the court date.
