A video showing the aftermath of a deadly crash in Dehradun was widely shared on social media before it was removed by X (formerly Twitter) for violating its content sharing policy. The footage, which showed gruesome scenes of body parts strewn on the road, was deemed ‘gratuitous bloodshed’ and removed as being extremely disturbing.

The tragic accident took place on November 12 near ONGC Chowk in which six students were killed and one seriously injured. The accident took place around 1.30 am when a group of friends in a newly purchased Innova rammed into a container truck. The car with advanced safety features was reduced to a mangled wreck and the collision killed six of the seven passengers on the spot. All victims were under the age of 25 and preliminary investigation showed that the truck driver was not at fault.

According to reports, the group was racing a BMW when the driver tried to overtake it at a speed of more than 100 km/h. While trying to pass, the Innova collided with the rear of a dump truck. According to PTI, the deceased were identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20) and Guneet (19). The lone survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), is in critical condition at Synergy Hospital in Dehradun.

The video of the aftermath of the crash was initially posted by a user named Chauhan on X. The user later shared a screenshot of the request he received from media that depicts unnecessary blood. You may not share excessively explicit media (e.g. serious injuries, torture). Exposure to gratuitous bloodshed can be harmful, especially if the content is posted with the intent to indulge in cruelty or sadistic pleasure.”

After deleting the video, Chauhan apologized in a follow-up post stating that it was shared for “information purposes” and that he forgot to add a trigger warning or blur sensitive parts.

“This video is for informational purposes only, I do not claim this video even though I only got the video from X/Twitter. Sorry to everyone, I didn’t remember to add the trigger warning and I also forgot to blur the video parts where sensitive things are shown,” Chauhan wrote.

Despite this, Chauhan had posted another video of the aftermath of the crash, which has not yet been removed by X.

Reports further claim that the car involved in the accident belonged to Sunil Agarwal, a firecracker businessman from Saharanpur, who had bought it just a few days earlier during the Dhanteras festival. His son, Atul, had taken the car to Dehradun with six friends and was driving the car at the time of the accident.
