Woman suffers ‘potentially serious injuries’ in village crash in Shropshire

The incident in Hemford, south of Minsterley saw four fire engines and three ambulances present.

The fire brigade was sent to the scene on the A488 around 2.30 pm.

West Mercia Police said two people were injured in the incident, but added the road was not closed following the crash, which he said only involved one vehicle.

A spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 2.30pm this afternoon to a collision on the A488 between Marsh Junction and Gravelbank Junction, involving one vehicle.

“Two people were treated for injuries by the ambulance service. The fire brigade was also present. The road was not closed.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a female passenger in the car suffered potentially serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.20pm to a road traffic accident involving one car at Gravels, Minsterley in Shrewsbury. Three ambulances and an ambulance worker arrived on scene.

“Upon arrival we found two patients, a man and a woman who were the driver and a passenger in the car. A woman who was a passenger was examined and may have suffered serious injuries.

“She was treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment. A man who was the driver was assessed by paramedics and did not require further treatment. He was given self-care advice before he was discharged.”
