A 70-year-old man has been charged with raping a child.

Randolph Olivero appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, where his case was sent to the High Court due to the seriousness of the allegations.

The Laguna Estate resident is facing two counts of rape and six counts of sexual activity with a child under 16.

The alleged facts date from 2011 and 2012.

The judge set bail at £2,000. Mr Olivero simply said he understood.

He will next appear before the Supreme Court on December 12.
