Today is the full moon of November and it’s a pretty big deal. It is the fourth supermoon in a row, after the supermoons in August, September and October. It is also the last supermoon of 2024.

A supermoon occurs when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter than normal.

Super moons form because the moon’s orbit is elliptical, meaning its distance from Earth varies. When a full moon coincides with this closest approach, it can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon.
