Abkhazian authorities withdraw bill on ratification of investment agreement with Russia – World

SUKHUM, November 15. /TASS/. In an effort to stabilize the situation in Abkhazia, President Aslan Bzhania has decided to withdraw the bill on the ratification of the agreement with Moscow, which would have allowed Russian companies to implement investment projects in Abkhazia, the presidential press service said . a relevant document will be issued shortly.

“The presidential government is currently working on a document to withdraw from parliament the ratification of the agreement between the Abkhazian and Russian governments on the implementation of investment projects in Abkhazia by Russian legal entities. This decision was made in an attempt to stabilize the situation. in the republic,” it told TASS.

The Abkhaz parliament was expected to consider the ratification of the agreement with Russia on the implementation of investment projects in Abkhazia by Russian legal entities, but the session was canceled after lawmakers failed to agree on the agenda. The opposition, meanwhile, demanded that the issue be completely removed from the agenda.

Several hundred demonstrators gathered in front of the parliament building. Some time later they surrounded the entire government complex. The Abkhazian Security Council described the situation as tense.

Abkhaz President Aslan Bzjania emphasized the inadmissibility of putting pressure on lawmakers and urged citizens to refrain from provocations.
