A red flag warning has been posted, with more showers coming this weekend

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Breezy trade winds will continue into the weekend. A slightly drier air mass over the islands will provide critical fire conditions in the leeward areas on Friday. A new band of moisture arriving on trade routes this weekend will boost showery activity again. Expect clouds and showers to concentrate over windward and mountain areas. trades weaken in the first half of the new week. Drier conditions with lighter winds will return on Tuesday, but there will be more typical trade wind showers.

The current long period of northerly swell will continue to drop through Friday and into the weekend. A high surf advisory is in effect along the East Coast through Saturday, which may need to be extended into early next week. A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect until Friday for the possibility of extremely high tidal flooding.
