Victim of Farmington Hills workplace shooting ‘recovering well’, preliminary exam set for alleged shooter – The Oakland Press

A preliminary exam is scheduled for a man charged with a felony in a workplace shooting in Farmington Hills last month.

Da Shawn Marquese Taylor, 21, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for the Oct. 15 shooting in the parking lot of Specialty Steel Treating Inc. The company is located on Eight Mile Road, near Orchard Lake Road.

The victim was shot in the leg and arrived at a hospital in critical condition but is “recovering well,” Police Chief Jeff King told The Oakland Press on Nov. 14.

Taylor called 911 to report the incident, police said.

According to King, the case arose from an ongoing disagreement between Taylor and the victim, co-workers at the companies. “It was two guys who didn’t get along that escalated into a physical attack and then a shooting,” King said.

Taylor’s preliminary exam is scheduled for Dec. 4 in the 47th District Court, where Judge James Brady will hear evidence and determine if there is probable cause to move the case to Oakland County Circuit Court for a possible trial. Taylor was released on a $10,000 personal bond, which does not require the posting of any cash or bond.

If convicted, Taylor faces up to four years in prison.
