M20 coastal border between Maidstone and Ashford closed due to ‘police incident’

A large part of the highway is closed due to a “police incident”.

The coastal section of the M20 is closed between junction 8 Virgo Stone and junction 9 for Ashford tonight (November 15).

Traffic was also held on the London-bound carriageway but has since been cleared.

There is about a mile of traffic on the approach to the closure.

National Highways said this was due to a “police led” incident at around 8pm.

Police have been asked for more information about the incident.

It comes next traffic was temporarily blocked on the section of the motorway to London between junction 6 for Blue Bell Hill and junction 4 for Leybourne earlier after reports of “animals on the road”.
