Darnell Brown-Jones, 18, shot and killed on Columbus' east side

The Franklin County coroner has identified a man killed in a shooting on Columbus’ east side Thursday evening.

Darnell Brown-Jones, 18, died at the scene of a shooting in the 900 block of Eton Grove, coroner’s spokesman Jeremy Blake said.

Officers responded to that block around 10:30 p.m. where multiple 911 callers said they heard gunshots and saw someone lying on the ground, Columbus police Sgt. said Joe Albert.

Responding officers found Brown-Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead minutes later.

Officers were unable to get a description of the shooter Thursday evening, Albert said.
