Man dies after falling off an embankment while being chased by police in Guttenberg – NBC New York

A man died after falling from an embankment while being pursued on foot by police in New Jersey, according to police.

Police in Guttenberg were called to 68th Street and Bellevue Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday about a disturbance, during which witnesses said one of the individuals was armed with a gun, the attorney general’s office said Friday.

Officers found the people involved on JFK Boulevard and the man climbed over a railing into an adjacent building after a foot chase, a preliminary investigation showed. After going over the railing, the man fell to his death from an embankment.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. When the man died, a gun was found.

No further information was immediately available. An investigation is underway.
