Tri-County leaders are creating a survey to get opinions on the Bus Rapid Transit system

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) – The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Government has created a survey to get your input specifically about their Bus rapid transit system.

The council says more than 60 responses have been received so far and the survey closes at midnight tonight.

Some questions ask what would increase your likelihood of using public transportation more often, and what your preferences are for public transportation along the US 52 corridor.

The study area extends approximately 18 miles from North Charleston to Goose Creek and Moncks Corner.

A local restaurant owner, Mike Szews, says if they move forward with this bus system, they will also have to consider other factors such as sidewalks, pre-existing traffic and bike lanes.

“I think for some workers, the lower-wage ones, it could be a good thing to have something, as long as it’s a consistent schedule and doesn’t lose too much money,” Szews says.

The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Government says it has not yet reviewed the responses and plans to complete them early next year.

They will then develop recommendation plans for the future.
